Listed win for Bosphorus Rose caps successful June

30 June 2026

An easy win by Bosphorus Rose in the Listed Lenebane Stakes at Roscommon on Tuesday brought down the curtain on an outstanding June for Blue Diamond Stud.

Making her second start for Paddy Twomey following a promising third in the Group 3 Munster Oaks, the Golden Horn filly was never challenged to make her stakes breakthrough, quickening clear under Billy Lee for a near five-length win.

"We like this race, it's been lucky for us and I thought she was good enough to come here and win it," said Paddy Twomey. "Billy made it look easy but she's a nice filly.

"She was very progressive last year and we were keen on her at Newmarket [at the Tattersalls December Sale]. William [Kennedy] bought her and kindly sent her to us. We'll try and step her up to Group 3 level next."

As alluded to by Twomey, Bosphorus Rose progressed through the ranks last season for Sir Mark Prescott, racking up four wins prior to a placing in the Listed Gillies Fillies' Stakes at Doncaster. She was sold for 150,000gns at the end of the year to Stanley Lodge and now carries the colours of Mrs Emma Kennedy.

She was bred by Blue Diamond Stud out of the winning May Rose, also dam of our smart sprinting 3yo May Angel. May Rose, a Lawman three-parts sister to the high-class Cable Bay, has a two-year-old filly by Zarak named Bsharri with Francis-Henri Graffard, a yearling colt by Pinatubo and a filly foal by Zarak (pictured in third). She visited Dark Angel this year.

Overall it's been a memorable June for the stud. In addition to Bosphorus Rose, graduates include Sheikh Ahmed al Maktoum's Group 3 Prix Bertrand de Breuil winner Remmooz; both were offered in the same Tattersalls December Foal draft.

Homebred Nebras (out of Princess Loulou) ran second in the Listed Monmouth Stakes at Monmouth Park while Baroud (out of Tisa River) ran an excellent race to finish second in the Group 2 Prix Eugene Adam at Saint-Cloud (pictured right).

Ranga Tang (out of Rose Of Miracles) ran an excellent third in the Group 3 Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot for the Gredley family and James Owen and now has the St Leger in his sights. Former Group 1 winner Hotazhell also ran third in the Group 3 International and Listed Hill Of Tara Stakes.

Fellow graduates Bnaider, Merlin The Wizard (twice), OJ Lifestyle, Ravishing Beauty, Strike d'Oro and What About Us have also won in the past six weeks.
