Deserved Group 3 success for BDS-bred Remmooz

14 June 2026

A deserved Group 3 success for the Blue Diamond bred and raised Remmooz in the Prix Bertrand du Breuil at Chantilly on Sunday brought the curtain down on a great week for stud graduates.

Not only was he the third winner of the week bred by Blue Diamond after Ravishing Beauty and Merlin The Wizard but his win followed swift on the heels of an excellent third by fellow graduate Bosphorus Rose in the Group 3 Munster Oaks at Cork. Both Remmooz and Bosphorus Rose were part of our draft at the 2022 Tattersalls December Foal Sale.

Owned by Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum and trained by Owen Burrows, Remmooz has been brought along steadily by connections. Unraced at two, he won his first two starts last season, a pair of novices, en route to a competitive handicap at York before signing off with a win in the Listed Dubai Duty Free Cup at Newbury.

On Sunday, the four-year-old showed a fine attitude under Callum Rodriguez to run down the long-time leader Elastic with Group 1 winner Sahlan in behind.

"I'm very pleased," said Owen Burrows. "This horse is really growing up. I thought it was a real smart performance.

"It was a little bit messy early on but Callum said he relaxed well, really went up the gears and hit the line strong. He struggled to pull him up.

"He's not short of speed but I think a mile is probably his trip. We've always liked him and physically he's done really well. He likes fast ground, so it's worked out great. There's the Summer Mile and then we can have a look at a Group 1."

By Blue Point, Remmooz was bred by Blue Diamond Stud out of Lady Ramon, a Listed-winning daughter of Ramonti. He was sold by us as a foal to DR Bloodstock.

Bosphorus Rose, meanwhile, added further black-type to her record with a good third in the Group 3 Munster Oaks on her first run for Paddy Twomey. The daughter of Golden Horn is out of May Rose and therefore a half-sister to our smart three-year-old May Angel.
