18 February 2023
Foaling season is in full swing at Blue Diamond Stud.
Our first foal of 2023 was a Sea The Moon filly out of Group 3 winner Sweet Gentle Kiss born in late January. Since then, a further six foals have been born, including two lovely individuals by the Aga Khan Studs' leading sire Siyouni.
The eldest of the pair is a colt out of the regally-bred Blue Diamond born on February 6. The Galileo mare is a full-sister to our multiple Group 1 winner Decorated Knight and therefore out of Pearling, herself a Storm Cat sister to Giant's Causeway, You'resothrilling (dam of Gleneagles, Happily, Marvellous and Joan Of Arc) and Freud.
The Siyouni colt is the first foal out of Blue Diamond, who now visits Dubawi.
The other Siyouni youngster is a filly out of Nadia Promise from another well established Blue Diamond Stud family. Born on 17 February, she is the fourth foal out of her placed dam, who is a Galileo sister to Listed scorer Nouriya - our first homebred stakes winner - and therefore related to our Group 2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes winner Aljazzi.
Nadia Promise also has a two-year-old colt by Study Of Man named Vorderman with Roger Teal and a yearling colt by Kingman. She visits New Bay this season.
We were also delighted to welcome a filly from the first crop of Palace Pier out of our multiple-winning homebred Breath Of Joy as well as a Kingman filly out of fellow winning homebred Princess Nadia; she is a Sea The Stars daughter of our Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes heroine Princess Noor and due to visit Iffraaj this year.
Another maiden, Little Petra, also foaled a lovely bay daughter of Night Of Thunder on 17 February. Little Petra, a Le Havre relation to Night Of Thunder's sire Dubawi no less, now goes to Cracksman.
A busy period for the stud also included the arrival of a smart Pinatubo colt out of our Listed Pipalong Stakes heroine Dawn Of Hope.
The daughter of Mastercraftsman, a half-sister to another high-class horse for Imad Alsagar in Ayrad, has made a swift start at stud as the dam of Kind Gesture, her first foal who ran fourth in Listed company last season.
She also has a Kingman colt named Variable Cost in training with Chad Brown, a two-year-old colt by Invincible Spirit due to join Andre Fabre and a yearling filly by Sea The Stars.
Dawn Of Hope visits Lope De Vega this year.
