Aljazzi made a striking impression on her only outing at two when victorious at Newmarket. She later ran a creditable race in the 1,000 Guineas on only her third start before returning to winning ways in the Listed Dick Hern Fillies’ Stakes at Haydock.
The homebred daughter of Shamardal progressed through the stakes ranks for Marco Botti thereafter, notably when successful in the Group 3 Atalanta Stakes at Sandown and Listed Snowdrop Fillies’ Stakes at Kempton. She also ran second in the Group 2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Aljazzi returned to Royal Ascot to go one better in the Group 2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes the following June, scything through the field to win by nearly four lengths.
She went on to sell for a sale record of 1 million guineas to Newsells Park Stud at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale, and only last year hit the headlines again when her Frankel yearling filly sold for 4,400,000gns to Amo Racing.
Aljazzi represents two generations of Blue Diamond breeding as the first foal out of Nouriya, another stud homebred who carried our colours to victory in the Listed John Musker and EBF Lyric Stakes.
