Group 1 success for BDS-bred Hotazhell

Hotazhell, bred and raised by Blue Diamond Stud, returned to form in emphatic style on Sunday to land his second Group 1, the Grosser Dallmayr-Preis - Bayrisches Zuchtrennen at Munich.
The game colt made all under Shane Foley to repel all challengers and win narrowly from Timeforshowcasing and Wimbledon Hawkeye.
Trained by Jessica Harrington on behalf of Silverton Hill LLC, Hotazhell was a top-class 2yo in 2024 when his wins included the Group 1 Futurity Stakes at Doncaster, Group 2 Beresford Stakes at the Curragh and Group 3 Tyros Stakes at Leopardstown. He also held his own in top company last year, notably when running third in the Irish 2,000 Guineas.
"He was a really, really good 2yo and his last two runs have been good - he's coming back to himself," said Shane Foley. "Hopefully he can have a nice autumn. Thank God our head was in front at the right time!
"It wasn't the plan to make the running. I went forward from my inside draw and I thought there wasn't much pace and I ended up getting it easy in front. They attacked me early in the straight but this lad is a fighter."
By Too Darn Hot, Hotazhell was bred by Blue Diamond Stud out of homebred Azenzar, a winning Danehill Dancer mare from the family of champion Alexander Goldrun.
He was sold by us at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Sale to Eddie Linehan of Lackendarra Stables, who resold him to current connections as a Tattersalls Craven breezer.
Overall it's been a memorable summer for the stud. In addition to Hotazhell, graduates include Emma Kennedy's Bosphorus Rose and Sheikh Ahmed al Maktoum's Group 3 Prix Bertrand de Breuil winner Remmooz; both were offered in the same Tattersalls December Foal draft.
Homebred Nebras (out of Princess Loulou) ran second in the Listed Monmouth Stakes at Monmouth Park while Baroud (out of Tisa River) ran an excellent race to finish second in the Group 2 Prix Eugene Adam at Saint-Cloud.
Ranga Tang (out of Rose Of Miracles) ran an excellent third in the Group 3 Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot for the Gredley family and James Owen and now has the St Leger in his sights.
