Sixth win for BDS-bred Split Elevens
15 March 2023
One of the toughest horses in training, Split Elevens added further to his haul on Tuesday when successful in the mile handicap at Southwell.
Split Elevens made smooth progress from the back of the field to win well by two lengths. In the process, the Ajaya gelding handed Charlotte Butler a winner on her second ride.
The five-year-old was bred and raised at the stud out of Woodland Scene, also the dam of our Firth Of Clyde Stakes heroine Nazanin. While Woodland Scene has since been sold, Nazanin is now part of our broodmare band and visits Frankel this season while her three-year-old Justify daughter, Elhayba, is in the training with John and Thady Gosden.
It is the further family of Racing Post Trophy winner Crowded House and leading sire Storm Cat.
A son of our Gimcrack Stakes winner Ajaya, Split Elevens has been a remarkably tough horse for Johnny Butler; Tuesday’s success was his sixth overall while he has been placed a further 11 times.
