Homebred winner of the Gimcrack Stakes
Homebred Ajaya was a particularly special flagbearer of 2015.
The son of Invincible Spirit was the first foal out of Nessina, a Hennessy half-sister to the dam of the top-class pair Bated Breath and Cityscape from a powerful Juddmonte family.
Trained by William Haggas, Ajaya broke his maiden in impressive fashion at York before going under by only a head to Gutaifan in the Group 2 Prix Robert Papin. A progressive two-year-old, he then returned to the Knavesmire to take the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes in dominant fashion from Ribchester. Back in third was another Blue Diamond Stud graduate, Raucous.
Ajaya later stood for a short period at Rathbarry Stud in Ireland, where he left behind the Listed winner Fourhometwo.
