Gamrai off the mark at Windsor

18 August 2025

Homebred Gamrai looked a smart colt in the making on Monday when making all to win the 1m2f novice at Windsor for John and Thady Gosden.

Partnered by Oisin Murphy, for whom he was a first ride for Imad Alsagar as retained jockey, Gamrai showed a game attitude to fend off Earl Of Rochester to win by a length-and-a-quarter.

In the process, he became the second winner to emerge out of our Nouriya family in recent days after Thinthread, successful in a handicap at Deauville last week for Andre Fabre; while Gamrai is out of Nouriya herself, Thinthread is out of her daughter Cristielle.

Gamrai becomes the sixth winner out of homebred Nouriya (pictured below right), who carried our colours to victory in the Listed Lyric Stakes at York and Listed John Musker Stakes at Yarmouth. The Danehill Dancer mare previously foaled our Group 2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes heroine Aljazzi.

Nouriya is currently part of our broodmare band at Stonereath Farm in Kentucky.
