BDS-bred Marakesh sparkles on debut

Marakesh turned in a sparkling debut performance for Henry de Bromhead at Gowran Park on Tuesday to become the latest winner bred and raised by Blue Diamond Stud.
By our own multiple Group 1 winner Decorated Knight and out of Turama, a half-sister to Mastercraftsman, Marakesh races for Dr S P Fitzgerald. She was well backed to oblige on debut and duly justified her odds, picking up well when asked by Billy Lee to score with a bit in hand by a wide margin.
“Marakesh was very straightforward," Billy Lee told irishracing.com. "She was good today, travelled well and got me into a lovely position.
“I was just waiting for a gap to open in the straight and when it did she picked up well and galloped out to the line. I thought she won within herself and there is hopefully more to come. She put it to bed easy and was green having a look so you would like to think stepping up to a mile would bring more improvement.”
