The Golden Horn colt had shown steady progression in maidens for William Haggas and justified good support on this occasion to win going away under Tom Marquand.

St Just becomes the 15th winner of 2019 in Britain, Ireland and France bred by Blue Diamond Stud. Others include the Listed Hopeful Stakes winner Raucous and the Listed-placed two-year-olds Divine Spirit and Ikigai.

St Just is the first foal out of the talented Alfajer, a yearling purchase by Tony Nerses who ran third in the Listed October Stakes for Marco Botti at Ascot. The daughter of Mount Nelson is a half-sister to the Group 2-placed Tayyel and out of the Group 3-placed Sakhee’s Song.

Alfajer also has a filly foal by Decorated Knight.

St Just was purchased by Jill Lamb as a yearling for 40,000gns at the Tattersalls December Yearling Sale. He races for G. Smith-Bernal.
