We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our farm as a groom. You will work closely with our team of experienced professionals to provide top-quality care to our thoroughbred horses. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with world-class horses in a supportive and team-oriented environment. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about horses, and has a strong work ethic.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience with horses, a desire to learn, improve their horsemanship skills and knowledge of reproductive care, and grow in your role. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, have great attention to detail, and work well as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for horses, including feeding, grooming, and exercise
- Clean and disinfect stalls on a regular basis to ensure a healthy living environment for the horses, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the barn and surrounding areas.
- Observe horses for any signs of illness, injury, or behavioral changes and report any concerns to the farm manager.
- Assist with veterinary and farrier appointments, ensuring horses are properly prepared and handled.
- Handle horses in a safe and gentle manner, using appropriate training techniques and equipment.
- Help develop and implement individual training programs for yearlings to build strength, stamina, and athleticism.
Requirements
- Valid Drivers License
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as ability to take direction and work well as part of a team
- Previous Experience required
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to observe and respond to subtle changes in horse behavior or health.
- Ability to handle yearlings in a calm and confident manner.
- Physical stamina, as the job requires lifting heavy objects (up to 50lbs) and working in all weather conditions
Salary will be commensurate with level of experience.
