Trio of Valentines foals for Blue Diamond Stud
15 February 2015
A trio of Valentines Day babies were among the foals welcomed during a busy week at Blue Diamond Stud.
Fillies by Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar’s Derby hero Authorized – himself a Valentines foal – and Oasis Dream were born on Saturday as was a colt by the stud’s stallion Sayif.
The Oasis Dream filly is out of Island Dreams, a Giant’s Causeway half-sister to the Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed Rob Roy. She is the fourth foal out of the mare, whose first, Who’sthedude, was a winner at two last year.
Island Dreams also has a two-year-old colt by Pour Moi, a yearling filly by Sayif and is booked back to Mastercraftsman this year.
The new arrival by Authorized is a filly out of Ragda, an Invincible Spirit relation to American Champion Pleasant Stage. Ragda also has a yearling filly by Henrythenavigator and will visit Tamayuz this season.
Queen Mary Stakes runner-up Shyrl is the dam of the latest foal by Sayif to join the stud. The colt is the fifth foal out of the Acclamation mare, whose two-year-old colt by Dream Ahead was purchased by John Warren for 100,000gns last autumn. Shyrl is booked back to Dream Ahead for 2015.
Blue Diamond Stud has 12 yearlings from the first crop of Sayif, including those out of the half-sisters to Group 1 winners such as Equiano, Crowded House and Kingsgate Native.
Earlier in the week, Azenzar foaled her first foal, a filly by Henrythenavigator. The winning Azenzar, a Danehill Dancer relation to Alexander Goldrun, will be covered by Lope De Vega this year.
