Tisa River's colt turns heads at Goffs UK Breeze-Up
22 April 2022
Tisa River came to the fore on Thursday when her first foal, a striking colt by Kessaar, sold for £160,000 to Fawzi Nass, signing as Oliver St Lawrence Bloodstock.
Beautifully prepared by Con Marnane’s Bansha House Stables, the colt had attracted many admirers with a smart breeze and duly went on to become one of the top lots of the day.
“He’s a gorgeous colt who did very well all winter,” said Marnane. “I’ve always loved him. He’s got a gorgeous temperament.
“I’ve sent five mares to Kessaar off the back of him!”
Marnane tends to hit the mark when it comes to stallions – he did the same with Ardad and Mehmas, so watch this space!
“He’s going to go to Roger Varian and hopefully he’ll be racing very soon,” said Fawzi Nass. “He’s the type that could make it to Royal Ascot, hopefully. I liked him and he’s a proper two-year-old type. He’s well put together and can obviously breeze with a nice stride.”
Tisa River boasts exceptional bloodlines as a half-brother to three Group/Grade 1 winners in Iridessa, winner of the Fillies’ Mile, Matron Stakes, Pretty Polly Stakes and Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf, Order Of Australia, winner of the Breeders’ Cup Mile, and Santa Barbara, winner of the Belmont Oaks and Beverly D Stakes.
Their dam, Senta’s Dream, is a Danehill daughter of the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf heroine Starine.
Tisa River also has a yearling filly by Blue Point and visited Frankel this year.
