Stunning Monsun filly tops Arqana August Sale when selling to Tony Nerses
16 August 2014
A stunning filly from the final crop of Monsun will race for Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar after selling for a sale-topping €1.2 million to Tony Nerses at the Arqana August Sale.
Sold by Ecurie des Monceaux, the filly’s pedigree received a timely update earlier in the day when her Group 1-winning half-brother Seismos won the Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury. She is also a sister to the German Oaks runner-up Soberania and out of a half-sister to German Derby winners Schiaparelli and Samum as well as Preis der Diana heroine Salve Regina – all of whom are by Monsun.
“She was my pick of the sale – an absolute standout,” Tony Nerses told the Racing Post. “Pedigrees like this don’t come on the market very often – it was the best page in the catalogue. I just had to have her.
“We will take her back to Blue Diamond Stud in Newmarket and make a decision on a trainer after that.”
