Striking Decorated Knight colt first foal of 2021

27 January 2021

Blue Diamond Stud welcomed its first foal of the year earlier this month in the arrival of a cracking colt by our homebred multiple Group 1 winner Decorated Knight.

Born on 16 January, the striking chestnut is the first foal out of Morningtide. A daughter of the exceptional broodmare sire Shamardal, Morningtide is out of New Morning, who famously defeated Derby winner North Light to win in the Group 3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes. In turn, she is a sister to champions Islington and Greek Dance in addition to being a half-sister to Group 1 winner Mountain High. It’s an outstanding family that has been associated for many years with Ballymacoll Stud.

Decorated Knight‘s first crop are two-year-olds and are already the subject of encouraging reports. He is represented in some of Europe’s top yards, notably John Gosden, Roger Varian, Roger Charlton, Marco Botti, Mark Johnston and Sir Mark Prescott.

An outstanding performer gifted with a brilliant turn of foot, Decorated Knight‘s career included three Group 1 victories – the Irish Champion Stakes, Jebel Hatta and Tattersalls Gold Cup.

He is also beautifully bred as a Galileo relation to three-time American champion sire Giant’s Causeway.

Decorated Knight stands at the Irish National Stud for €7,500 and anyone using him this season is entitled to a free nomination for 2022.
