Sparkling debut for Eleganz
24 April 2025
Eleganz made a sparkling start to her racing career for Andre Fabre on Wednesday when successful in her debut, a maiden at Saint-Cloud.
Ridden patiently by Alexis Pouchin, the Adlerflug filly showed a fine turn of foot to run down the leaders from the back of the field and win ears pricked by a length and a half from Highara.
"The filly is still a little green, but she accelerated well," said Teddy Grimthorpe. "She is very calm. She is entered in the Prix de Diane, but we still have to discuss it with André Fabre. We hope she will become a black type filly."
Eleganz is from the last crop of the much-missed leading German sire Adlerflug. She was purchased from her breeder, Gestut Rottgen, at the 2023 BBAG September Sale and was the recipient of a major pedigree update within the year when her half-sister Erle won the Group 1 Preis der Diana.
Their dam Kizingo is a winning Oasis Dream daughter of another Preis der Diana winner, Enora. That makes her a half-sister to not only Erasmus, a champion German 2yo, but also the highly exciting unbeaten Japanese 3yo Energico.
Eleganz holds an entry in the Prix de Diane.
