THE DBS Premier sale has been a lucky hunting ground for us in the past through the likes of Princess Noor, Nisser and Orvar, and we were thrilled to secure five yearlings this time around, including the sister to Galileo Gold and Sepoy half-brother to Deacon Blues.

The sister to Galileo Gold ended up as the sale-topper after falling to Tony Nerses for £280,000.

Not only is she a sister to recent Vintage Stakes winner Galileo Gold but she shares her sire, Paco Boy, with our useful three-year-old Azraff. In addition, her dam Galicuix is a half-sister to top sprinter Goldream.

She was also sold by Houghton Bloodstock on behalf of breeder Pantile Stud, from whom we bought three-time winner Buredyma at DBS in 2012.

The filly is set to join Hugo Palmer, also the trainer of Galileo Gold.

“She’s a filly with a lot of quality and scope,” said Saleh Al Homaizi told the Racing Post. “For us as breeders, we’re looking towards the future with our broodmare band and she will make a lovely mare for us.

“The stud is relatively new but doing well. We’ve had Ajaya and Raucous, and then Special Season [bred by the pair’s Blue Diamond Stud] won by seven lengths on his debut last week – you could say it’s been a special season!”

Tony Nerses also signed at £160,000 for a colt from the first crop of Sepoy, sold by Newsells Park Stud and bred by Elizabeth Grundy. He is a half-brother to champion sprinter Deacon Blues as well as the Listed-placed Holley Shiftwell.

“He’s a quality colt who looks like he’ll be a two-year-old,” Saleh Al Homaizi told the Racing Post. “We also have a nice Sepoy at home and think he’s exciting.”

A Dandy Man sister to high-class two-year-old Parbold was bought for £85,000 from James Read’s Selwood Bloodstock.

By the same sire as Orvar, she is also a half-sister to Listed winner Majestic Myles.

Completing the quartet were fillies by Dark Angel and Poet’s Voice, both of whom cost £50,000 apiece from Cooneen Stud.

The Dark Angel is out of Sister Red, a half-sister to Group 3 winner Red Badge, while the Poet’s Voice is out of Expedience, a half-sister to Group 3 winner Fantastic View.
