Shaden wins Gr3 Firth Of Clyde Stakes
19 September 2015
Shaden continued a good autumn for Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar on Saturday when taking the Group 3 Firth Of Clyde Stakes at Ayr.
Reunited with Hayley Turner, who steered her to victories earlier this season at Nottingham and Ffos Las, Shaden led the field until the furlong marker and battled back bravely when headed to score by a neck from Only Mine. The pair pulled 2 3/4 lengths clear of the third.
“It was plan B,” Hayley Turner told the Racing Post. “I was going to drop in, but Shaden pinged the gates. She knuckled down when the runner-up came to her and was very game.”
Shaden has now won three of her five starts for Lady Cecil and close to £43,000 in earnings.
By leading two-year-old sire Kodiac, Shaden was bred by John Fagan’s Deerpark Stud out of the Listed-placed Lady Avenger, by Namid. She is a half-sister to a winner and from the further family of top miler Lahib.
Shaden was a 40,000gns purchase by Tony Nerses out of the Deerpark Stud draft at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Sale.
