Second Group winner in three days for BDS as Araminta strikes in France
16 July 2023
Araminta continued an incredible week for Blue Diamond Stud on Sunday when running out the easy winner of the Group 3 Prix Chloe at Chantilly.
Partnered by Gerald Mosse, Araminta kept finding more to repel a host of challengers and ultimately win easily from Excellent Truth.
The daughter of Gleneagles becomes the second Group winner bred and raised by Blue Diamond in just three days after Nashwa, who bagged her third Group 1 in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket on Friday. Then on Saturday, Nashwa's half-brother Louganini also won the JCSA Award at Ta'If in Saudi Arabia.
Trained by Henry Candy on behalf of Andrew Stone's St Albans Bloodstock, Alex Frost and Alex Acloque, Araminta made a striking winning debut earlier this year at Newbury and having subsequently run a fine third on bad ground in the Listed EBF Conqueror Stakes, then broke through at stakes level with an easy victory in the Listed Height Of Fashion Stakes at Goodwood.
Sunday's win was her third in four starts.
"When you ride a winner like that, you get young every day!" said Gerald Mosse. "The filly is absolutely perfect. The trainer asked me to put her behind the leaders and that's what we exactly did. When I started to think about moving out and picking up gradually, she did the job - I didn't have to ask her strongly. She did it very well.
"I'm very pleased for the owner and Mr Candy. She will keep improving. The way she won today, I think she has a good future in front of her."
Mince (pictured above right) was a high-class filly for Lady Rothschild and Roger Charlton whose career highlight came when successful in the Group 3 Bengough Stakes at Ascot. Overall, this tough daughter of Medicean won eight races, including the Listed Garrowby, Flying Fillies and Boadicea Stakes. Following her three-year-old season, she was rated the Champion 3yo Sprinter in Europe.
Mince was one of several winners out of Strut, another talented sprinter who won the Listed St. Hugh's Stakes. It is one of Lady Rothschild's original families that goes back to the Listed-placed Bay Bay.
Araminta was a 82,000gns Tattersalls October Book 2 purchase by Blandford Bloodstock.
