Saxon Warrior colt for G1 winner Gilt Edge Girl; now visits Decorated Knight
8 April 2020
Brilliant sprinter Gilt Edge Girl has foaled a colt from the first crop of Classic winner Saxon Warrior.
The youngster arrived on April 3 not long before another regally-bred addition in a Lope De Vega colt out of Mastercraftsman’s half-sister Star Of Bristol.
Gilt Edge Girl joined Blue Diamond Stud when purchased for €200,000 in partnership with the Irish National Stud at last year’s Goffs November Sale.
In a reflection of the strong support afforded to our multiple Group 1 winner Decorated Knight, she is slated to visit the stallion in 2020.
Gilt Edge Girl, a Monsieur Bond half-sister to Flying Childers Stakes winner Godfrey Street, was a top-class and consistent sprinter for Clive Cox, winning six races including the Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp. She also captured the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes and Listed Lansdown Fillies’ Stakes.
Gilt Edge Girl is already the dam of Listed scorer Time’s Arrow, who was bred by the Niarchos family, and has young stock by Galileo, Frankel and Ulysses to run for her.
At the time of her purchase, Imad Al Sagar commented: “It’s a joint effort between Blue Diamond and the Irish National. She goes to Decorated Knight. Her Frankel yearling is well regarded and she still has lots of mileage in her.”
The Lope De Vega colt, meanwhile, becomes the second foal out of Star Of Bristol, a half-sister to multiple Group 1 winner and leading sire Mastercraftsman purchased for €300,000 at last year’s Arqana December Sale.
Star Of Bristol is also related to last year’s high-class three-year-old Il Paradiso while further back it is the family of champions Celestial Storm and Sakhee.
It is also a family that Blue Diamond Stud knows well via her half-sister Maid To Master, a full-sister to Mastercraftsman purchased in 2013.
Like Gilt Edge Girl, Star Of Bristol will now visit Decorated Knight.
