Return to stakes company beckons for Patentar
9 February 2016
A return to stakes company beckons for Patentar following his win over Slim Shadey in an allowance optional claimer at Santa Anita Park on Sunday.
Making his fourth start for Simon Callaghan, Patentar showed a bright turn of foot to sweep through horses and win a shade cosily under Rafael Bejarano by half-a-length from former Grade 1 performer Slim Shadey.
Bought by Tony Nerses as a yearling from breeder Whatton Manor Stud, Patentar was initially trained by Marco Botti for whom he won a conditions race at Lingfield and his juvenile debut at York. He also ran fourth to Toormore in the Craven Stakes at Newmarket.
The son of Teofilo was bred by Peter Player out of Poppets Sweetlove, a winning Foxhound half-sister to the Budapest bullet Overdose.
