Relations to Yesterday and Crowded House added at Tattersalls
15 October 2019
We were delighted to add two beautifully bred fillies to our string this week at the Tattersalls October Sale in Newmarket.
Our first acquisition was a Holy Roman Emperor filly from the Classic family of Jude bought for 180,000gns from Paula Flannery’s Egmont Stud. She is the first foal out of her dam Day Away, a Lookin At Lucky daughter of the Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Yesterday. The family goes back to blue hen Jude, also the dam of champion Quarter Hen.
“I like the idea of Danehill on that family,” said Imad Al Sagar. “It’s a marvellous family full of high-class fillies. But she’s also a very striking filly with good bone, size and movement. She’s very well balanced and full of quality.”
She was later joined in our squad for 2020 by a Starspangledbanner granddaughter of Car Colston Hall’s foundation mare Wiener Wald.
Wiener Wald left behind nine winners for Car Colston Hall including the Group 1-winning two-year-old Crowded House and Listed winner On Reflection. The daughter of Woodman, a close relation to Storm Cat, is also the granddam of Brando and Ticker Tape and ancestress of Reckless Abandon.
Another member of this family is our own Woodland Scene, who is currently in foal to American Triple Crown her Justify.
Their purchases continued an excellent Tattersalls October Sale for Blue Diamond Stud that also featured the sale of our Invincible Spirit – Princess Loulou colt for 450,000gns to Mike Ryan, agent to Klaravich Stables.
Kevin Ryan, meanwhile, bought our Dark Angel colt out of Shaden for 210,000gns.
We wish them the very best of luck.
