Recognition for BDS-bred Hotazhell
22 January 2025
Hotazhell, bred and raised by Blue Diamond Stud, gained due recognition for his excellent 2yo season when the World's Best Racehorse rankings were unveiled at the Longines World Racing Awards on Tuesday.
The Too Darn Hot colt was awarded a rating of 117 off the back of a season for Jessica Harrington that included wins in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes, Group 2 Beresford Stakes and Group 3 Tyros Stakes.
Hotazhell was bred by Blue Diamond Stud out of the Danehill Dancer mare Azenzar, who carried our colours to victory in minor company, and a half-brother to our classy sprinter Rizg. He has a two-year-old half-brother by No Nay Never who will be trained by Aidan O'Brien after selling to MV Magnier at the Tattersalls October Sale.
He was sold through our 2023 Tattersalls October Book 2 draft for 70,000gns to Eddie Linehan, who resold him for 200,000gns to current connections at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale.
Hotazhell headed the great season enjoyed by Blue Diamond Stud's 2022 crop. Of the stud's runners, over 85% have won - in addition to Hotazhell, they include Newmarket debut winner Nebras, who also ran in the Futurity Stakes, Listed-placed Milford, Deauville scorer Burhan, debut Ellis Park winner Sashay Away and the nursery winners River Blackwater and Hackney Diamonds.
