Promising win for BDS-bred Hector Loza

23 July 2019

Hector Loza, who was bred by Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar at Blue Diamond Stud, stepped up on his promising debut effort at Chelmsford City on Tuesday to break his maiden at the second time of asking.

Sent off favourite for the 6f novice race, the Kodiac colt showed a game attitude to wear down Return To Senders and win narrowly under Nicky Mackay.

Hector Loza is the second foal out of Queen Sarra, another bred at Blue Diamond Stud. By Shamardal, Queen Sarra is the sole foal out of the high-class racemare Grace O’Malley, whose three wins included two renewals of the Group 3 Noblesse Stakes at Cork. The daughter of Refuse To Bend was also placed in the Group 3 Blue Wind and Listed Vintage Crop Stakes.

Further back, it is the good Percy’s Lass family also responsible for Derby hero Sir Percy.

Queen Sarra’s first foal is the placed filly Nooshin, a daughter of Declaration Of War currently in training for us with Charlie Hills.

Queen Sarra was among the mares we sent this season to our multiple Group 1 winner Decorated Knight.

Hector Loza is trained by Simon Dow on behalf of owner Robert Moss, who purchased the colt out of Book 1 of last year’s Tattersalls October Sale.
