Progressive stayer Amtiyaz scores again in great style

Progressive stayer Amtiyaz continued his rise through the ranks in great style at Kempton Park on Saturday with an authoritative success under Hollie Doyle in the staying handicap.

A remarkably consistent colt who has finished out of the first three only once in eight starts for John Gosden, Amtiyaz was sent off favourite in the 11-runner field and didn’t disappoint; always well positioned just off the leaders, he kicked clear over a furlong out and maintained a healthy advantage to score by two-and-a-quarter lengths.

“The last twice, he’s been unlucky as the races haven’t been run to suit,” Hollie Doyle told Racing TV. “Today I could have potentially made the running but I jumped well, and when I established that it would be a good even gallop, I took a nice lead. The further I went the better. He didn’t do a lot when he hit the front but it was a good performance.”

A son of the mighty Frankel, four-year-old Amtiyaz is the first foal out of Rose Of Miracles, a Dalakhani relation to the great Goldikova and her Group 1-winning half-sister Galikova. It is also the excellent Wertheimer family of Group 3 winners Gold Sound and Gold Round in addition to the Grade 1-placed miler and sire Anodin.

Rose Of Miracles has a three-year-old filly by Dansili named Najeeba, who is in training with Roger Charlton, and a yearling colt by Siyouni. She visited our multiple Group 1 winner Decorated Knight last season.
