Pair of special Decorated Knight foals for Valentine’s
23 February 2021
Valentine’s Day at Blue Diamond Stud saw the arrival of two very special foals, both by our multiple Group 1 winner Decorated Knight.
Particularly of note is Princess Loulou‘s exceptional chestnut filly. She is the fourth foal out of her dam, whose first is our smart dual-winning four-year-old Louganini.
Princess Loulou was a high-class runner for Roger Varian, winning the Listed Gillies Stakes at Doncaster and running second in the Group 1 Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville. By broodmare sire extraordinaire, Princess Loulou is a half-sister to the Listed-placed Easy Target and from the further family of top two-year-old Awzaan.
Louganini remains in training with Roger Charlton for 2021. Princess Loulou’s three-year-old Natural Monopoly, a gelding by Invincible Spirit, is in training in the US with Chad Brown while her two-year-old Nashwa, a filly by Frankel, is in training with John Gosden.
Princess Loulou is booked back to Dubawi.
Our second Valentine’s foal was a sweet filly out of the regally-connected Rivercat.
The filly is the second foal out of the mare, who is a daughter of leading broodmare sire Street Cry and out of Grade 3 winner Anjaz. In turn, Anjaz is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Giants Play, herself dam of talented stayer Ispolini, and Listed winner Tearless, and out of the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile heroine Playful Act. The family goes back to Magnificient Style, whose eight stakes winners also include the Group 1 scorers Nathaniel and Great Heavens.
Rivercat’s first foal is a yearling filly by Raven’s Pass and the mare is booked back to Make Believe.
This is the third crop of foals by our homebred multiple Group 1 winner Decorated Knight.
Decorated Knight’s victories includes the Irish Champion Stakes, Jebel Hatta and Tattersalls Gold Cup. He is beautifully related, as a Galileo relation to champion sire Giant’s Causeway, and boasts two-year-old representation in many of Britain’s leading yards, notably John Gosden, Roger Varian and Roger Charlton.
Decorated Knight stands for €7,500 at the Irish National Stud – and any breeder using him this year is entitled to a free nomination in 2022.
