Dawn Of Hope stretches clear at Ascot
Dawn Of Hope stamped herself as a legitimate Oaks candidate on Wednesday when successful on her seasonal debut in the Spinal Injuries Association EBF Stallions Stakes at Ascot.
The daughter of Mastercraftsman, who ran sixth in last season’s Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket after breaking her maiden in impressive fashion at Ascot, was always to the fore under Andrea Atzeni and quickened well under pressure to win cosily by a length and a quarter from Raaqy.
As a result, she was given quotes of around 25/1 for the Oaks and is likely to be next seen in an Oaks trial.

“Dawn Of Hope will definitely stay ten furlongs, Andrea said,” trainer Roger Varian told the Racing Post. “He was unsure if she would stay a mile and a half but off the back of winning that we will run her ten furlongs next time. It will be easier to tell then if she is going to be a mile and half filly or best at ten.”
Dawn Of Hope is half-sister to our classy 5yo Ayrad, winner of last year’s Listed Tapster Stakes at Goodwood. Bred by Gerrardstown House Stud, she is also a half-sister to triple winners But Beautiful and Big Mago and out of Sweet Firebird, a Group 3-placed Sadler’s Wells half-sister to top sprinter Stravinsky.
Further back, it is the family of another top sprinter in Dowsing.
Dawn Of Hope was purchased by Tony Nerses out of the Platinum Bloodstock consignment for €220,000 at the 2014 Goffs Orby Sale.
