We are delighted to announce that Nashwa will make her next start in the Cazoo Oaks at Epsom.

Nashwa leapt into the Oaks picture with an impressive success in the Listed Haras de Bouquetot Fillies’ Trial at Newbury last Saturday. The Prix de Diane at Chantilly came into the reckoning following that performance but after consultation with trainers John and Thady Gosden, owner Imad Al Sagar has decided to let his star homebred take her chance in the Cazoo Oaks at Epsom. Retained jockey Hollie Doyle will take the ride.

“Nashwa won very well at Newbury on Saturday, where she showed a good turn of foot,” said Teddy Grimthorpe. “She’s an exciting filly and we are looking forward to running her in the Oaks.”

Nashwa is the winner of two of her three starts to date. Having run a highly promising third on her debut at Newmarket last autumn, she returned with an easy win over a mile at Haydock Park. From there, she went to the Listed Oaks trial at Newbury, where she made a sweeping move from the back of the field to win going away.

“She posted very smart sectionals at Haydock and she is a filly we have always liked a lot,”  remarked Thady Gosden following that performance. “She shows a great attitude. Obviously we were drawn wide today which was not ideal, but Hollie dropped her in and settled her very well at the back and she was very well switched off there. She picked up well in the straight and found a good turn of foot. Obviously, she will have learned from the experience today.”

By Frankel, Nashwa is out of Princess Loulou, who ran second in the Group 1 Prix Jean Romanet over 1m2f.
