Nashwa a game second in the Juddmonte International

23 August 2023

We were thrilled with Nashwa's performance in the Juddmonte International at York on Tuesday, in which she ran an outstanding second to Mostahdaf with this season's multiple Group 1 winner and hot favourite Paddington back in third.

"Nashwa is a good filly and there was no fluke in her finishing second," said co-trainer John Gosden. "She was stuck in the mud and got too far back at Goodwood but she showed her class today. Imad was great to run her, he saw it was shaping up to be a small field and said we must support British racing, which was very brave of him."

Her performance provides a fine update for her Dubawi half-brother, who heads to Tattersalls October Book 1. They are out of the Group 1-placed Pivotal mare Princess Loulou.

With a five-length win in the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes also on her resume for the season, Nashwa's record stands at three Group 1 wins and another five Group 1 placings.
