Last foal out of Pearling named Final Pearl
24 March 2023
In tribute to our foundation mare Pearling, her last foal, a filly by Frankel, has been named Final Pearl.
Pearling was an extremely special mare to myself, my family and everyone at Blue Diamond Stud. She was one of the first mares to join our stud while it was a fledgling operation and as a sister to Giant’s Causeway and You’resothrilling, provided us with access into one of the world’s best families. By producing Decorated Knight, Pearling also added significantly to the family, something that we are extremely proud of. As her first foal, he arrived early in the history of Blue Diamond Stud and gave us many memorable moments, not just as our first homebred Group 1 winner when successful in the 2017 Jebel Hatta but also when following up in that year’s Tattersalls Gold Cup and Irish Champion Stakes.
Pearling was a part of our family at Blue Diamond Stud for over a decade, and she leaves a lasting legacy with us thanks to three daughters; Blue Diamond, a full-sister to Decorated Knight whose first foal is a colt by Siyouni, Haute Couture, her two-year-old by Kingman who will be trained by John and Thady Gosden, and Final Pearl.
By giving her last foal the name Final Pearl, we strive to honour a mare to whom Blue Diamond Stud owes so much.
