Justineo makes all in Prix Hampton
9 June 2016
Classy sprinter Justineo, one of our first homebreds to hit the track, landed his sixth win on Thursday when striking in the Listed Prix Hampton at Deauville for Robert Cowell.
Partnered by Pierre-Charles Boudot, Justineo showed his customary early pace to make all and claim victory from The Right Man.
“His trainer had warned me: he’s a real speed horse,” Boudot told Equidia. “We left on a good footing and Justineo re-accelerated to four hundred metres from the line. He edged left in the finish, but has kept something to win. “
Justineo has been a tough servant for Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar during his five seasons of racing. Thursday’s win was his second at stakes level following that in the Scarbrough Stakes at Doncaster. He also ran third in the King George Stakes, fourth in the Gimcrack Stakes and has been Listed-placed on multiple occasions.
The son of Oasis Dream is the first foal out of Listed winner Loulwa, who was purchased by Tony Nerses for 370,000gns as a yearling. Loulwa, a Montjeu half-sister to Mill Reef Stakes winner Galeota, has since foaled the winners Elhaam and Bella Lulu, both of whom are now members of the Blue Diamond Stud broodmare band.
She also has a two-year-old Dansili colt named Presence Process with Luca Cumani and a yearling brother to Justineo. Her foal of 2016 is also an Oasis Dream brother to Justineo.
Loulwa was covered by Muhaarar this year.
