Impressive return for Kasbah at Dundalk

4 March 2016

An exciting 2016 beckons for Kasbah judging by his fine return to action on Friday night at Dundalk.

Shouldered with top weight of 10 stone in the 5f opener, Kasbah showed good pace under Connor King to press the leaders two furlongs out before taking up the running and going clear. At the line, he had half a length to spare over Go Kart, who was carrying a mere 8st 6lb.

It was Kasbah’s second consecutive win and third overall, and brought his earnings to close to £45,000.

“That was smooth,” trainer Johnny Murtagh told the Racing Post. “He´s quite a good horse. He was very progressive last year and very consistent.”

Bred by Castlemartin and Skymarc Farm, Kasbah is a half-brother to last season’s smart two-year-old Tashweeq. The pair are the first two foals out of Dance Hall Girl, a winning Dansili half-sister to Listed winner Solar Deity from the further family of Classic-winning miler Bachir.

Kasbah, by Acclamation, was purchased by Tony Nerses for £160,000 at the 2013 DBS Premier Sale.
