Impressive Newmarket debut win for Louganini

Blue Diamond Stud homebred Louganini made a striking debut at Newmarket on Friday when running out the wide-margin winner of a 7f maiden typically competitive of the track.
Although green, the Roger Charlton-trained two-year-old was able to travel in mid division before putting the race to bed with a decisive foot. In the end, Louganini had nearly three lengths to spare over the runner-up Naizagai.
“Louganini was very raw in the race and won despite his greenness,” said jockey Jason Watson. “He may take a few more runs for him to know what it’s all about, but he’s a nice prospect.”
Louganini’s debut success gets his dam Princess Loulou off to an excellent start at stud.
The son of Zoffany is the first foal out of the mare, who was trained by Roger Varian to win the Listed Gillies Fillies Stakes and run second in the Group 1 Prix Jean Romanet. She was also third in the Group 3 Lanwades Stud Stakes.
A daughter of the outstanding broodmare sire Pivotal, Princess Loulou is a half-sister to the Listed-placed Easy Target and out of a half-sister to the classy sprinter Watching.
This is the further family of Awzaan and Telescope and goes back to Dare Wigan’s wonderful mare Pelting.
Princess Loulou also has a yearling colt by Invincible Spirit, a filly foal by Frankel and is in foal to our multiple Group 1 winner Decorated Knight.
