Homebred Enchanting wins again at Goodwood

24 August 2024

Having held her own in several large field handicaps, Enchanting made a deserved return to winning ways on Saturday when striking under Hollie Doyle in the 5f handicap at Goodwood.

Her success came hot on the heels of fellow homebred Burhan for Andre Fabre at Deauville on Tuesday while Nancy J, a yearling purchase and our first runner with Jessica Harrington, scored well on debut last week at Gowran Park. Another BDS-bred, Hotazhell, was also a fine second in the Group 2 Futurity Stakes at the Curragh.

Trained by Andrew Balding, Enchanting won on her second start last year and was previously successful at Goodwood back in June. On Saturday, she was again brilliantly quick out of the stalls and was never headed to win by a clear margin.

Enchanting (pictured as a foal) is the second foal out of Tisa River, a half-sister to Group/Grade 1 winners Iridessa, Order Of Australia and Santa Barbara. Tisa River's first foal, Bolt Action, was a black-type performer for Roger Varian. The mare also has a yearling colt by Frankel, who is catalogued to the Goffs Orby Sale, and colt foal by Camelot.
