Homebred Baroud strikes in G2 Prix Guillaume d'Ornano

Baroud, our homebred son of Frankel, turned in a superb display to win the Group 2 Prix Guillaume d'Ornano at Deauville on Saturday.
Progressive for Andre and Lavinia Fabre, the Frankel colt came into the race having run a fine second in the Group 2 Prix Eugene Adam at Saint-Cloud. Settled on this occasion at the rear of the field by Pierre-Charles Boudot, Baroud swept down the outer to take command around a furlong out and win going away from Daryzan.
“He's been a slow-maturing horse, but he's run better and better and improved again when he ran at Saint-Cloud,” said racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe. “He went well in his last piece of work on Tuesday, which was really encouraging, and, as a Group 2 winner by Frankel, he is something special. The options are becoming more rarified, so we will focus on next year and, as he loves the fast ground, it probably won't be Longchamp.”
Baroud is the third foal and second stakes performer out of Tisa River after the Listed-placed 2yo Bolt Action. Tisa River is also dam of our classy sprinter Enchanting, who is today part of the Blue Diamond broodmare band alongside her dam.
Tisa River, an Equiano half-sister to the Group 1 winners Iridessa, Order Of Australia and Santa Barbara, has a 2yo colt by Camelot named National Anthem and a yearling filly by Frankel.
