Homebred Baroud off the mark at Saint-Cloud

24 April 2026

Homebred Baroud got off the mark in convincing style on Friday with an all-the-way success at Saint-Cloud.

Promising in a handful of starts for Andre Fabre prior to Friday, the Frankel colt was bounced out by Maxime Guyon and was never challenged for an easy win.

"He's better on good ground and, for his first time over 2,400m, I was able to go to the front," said Guyon. "He was very relaxed, ears pricked, which allowed him to breathe well. Then, he accelerated very well. I think he'll be able to climb the ranks. He hasn't fully matured yet, so he still has room for improvement.

He becomes the third winner from as many runners out of Tisa River following the stakes-placed Bolt Action and classy Enchanting. Tisa River, a half-sister to Group 1 winners Order Of Australia, Iridessa and Santa Barbara, has a two-year-old Camelot colt named National Anthem and a yearling filly by Frankel.
