Homebred Amazing wins well at Wolverhampton
26 December 2023
Homebred Amazing gave us with a nice Christmas winner when striking in the 1m4f handicap at Wolverhampton on Boxing Day. In the process, she provided jockey Jack Mitchell with his 100th winner of the year.
Trained by Roger Varian, Amazing has been running well this season without quite getting her head in front. Tuesday's win was well deserved, with the Siyouni filly travelling kindly in behind the leaders in her first time hood before taking command early in the straight for a cosy score.
"She looked amazing in her coat here today, she looked different class," said Jack Mitchell. "I rode her the other morning with the hood on, she definitely felt bigger and stronger, so I was coming here quietly confident. It was just the layoff and the step up in trip that was a question mark.
"But to be honest, she's won that without letting a horse go by her - she was always just doing enough."
The daughter of Siyouni was bred by Blue Diamond Stud out of Missy O'Gwaun, a winning daughter of King's Best. She is the fourth winner out of the mare following Listed winner Fourhometwo (by our Gimcrack Stakes winner Ajaya), Zain Nights and Elenora Delight.
