Highly regarded Patentar back on winning trail
13 September 2014
Patentar produced ‘a devastating turn of foot’ to treat some ‘decent rivals with contempt’ to land his comeback race, a 7f conditions race at Lingfield. Fourth in the Craven Stakes at Newmarket back in April, Patentar was a 4/1 shot to win his second race for Marco Botti and obliged in impressive fashion to win by 5 lengths.
“Patentar is a nice horse, he has just needed time,” jockey Luke Morris told the Racing Post. “I worked him earlier in the year and he was finishing behind good horses. He is learning all the time and the switch to faster ground has helped him. He needs to be held together early, but he´s got a good turn of foot.”
The Teofilo colt was purchased by Tony Nerses for 220,000gns as a yearling.
