Half-brother to Aljazzi heads exciting Decorated Knight arrivals
27 April 2019
Blue Diamond Stud are very proud to welcome a Decorated Knight half-brother to our record-breaker Aljazzi.
Foaled on April 24, the colt continues the excellent impression made by the first crop of his multiple Group 1-winning sire DECORATED KNIGHT.
Produced by the two-time Listed winner Nouriya, the colt is a half-brother to Aljazzi. The brilliant daughter of Shamardal won five races for us, including the Group 2 Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Group 3 Atalanta Stakes at Sandown Park. At the end of her career, she was sold for a record-breaking 1,000,000gns to Newsells Park Stud at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale.
Nouriya also has a two-year-old filly by Frankel named Majestic Noor in training with John Gosden and a yearling colt by Golden Horn. She is booked back to Lope De Vega.
Decorated Knight is also the sire of an excellent filly out of Group 3 Fairy Bridge Stakes winner Lady Wingshot.
Lady Wingshot, a Lawman three-parts sister to multiple Listed winner Bahama Mama, has got off to a good start at stud as the dam of the winning Expecting To Fly and promising I Am Magical from her first two foals.
Her two-year-old filly by Zoffany has been retained while she also has a yearling colt by Dubawi.
She is booked back to Mastercraftsman.
A tough, sound and beautifully bred son of Galileo gifted with an exceptional turn of foot, Decorated Knight defeated the likes of Churchill and Poet’s Word when successful in the 2017 Irish Champion Stakes. He was also dominant in victory in the Tattersalls Gold Cup and put his exceptional turn of foot to good use when getting out of trouble to take the Jebel Hatta.
Making Decorated Knight particularly attractive is that he hails from an exceptional stallion family.
He is the first foal out of Pearling, a daughter of blue hen Mariah’s Storm and therefore a sister to Giant’s Causeway, a 3-time North American champion sire, and Freud, a multiple champion sire in New York, the sire of three Grade 1 winners.
Not only that, another sibling, Group 2 winner You’resothrilling, is the dam of Group 1 winners Gleneagles, Marvellous and Happily, all of whom are by Galileo.
Gleneagles made the perfect start to his own stud career earlier this month when his first runner, Highland Chief, made a winning debut at Newbury.
Decorated Knight stands for €12,000 at the Irish National Stud.

The brilliant two-year-old Shalaa, meanwhile, is the sire of a smart filly out of Paradise Sea.
A half-sister to Champion Stakes winner David Junior and a member of the outstanding Bridlewood family of Paradise Creek and Forbidden Apple, Paradise Sea now heads to our own champion Decorated Knight.
