Hackney Diamonds sparkles at Hamilton

18 July 2024

Our two-year-old crop produced yet another winner on Thursday when Hackney Diamonds, bred by us out of Arwa, landed the 7f nursery at Leicester.

The daughter of Camelot had previously shown fair form in three starts for Brian Meehan and took another step forward on this occasion to win cosily by three-quarters of a length under Billy Loughnane.

"She was a little bit fresh but she broke smartly," said Billy Loughnane. "There was a tailwind today and that helped me through the last furlong but she was tough."

Hackney Diamonds (pictured as a yearling) was part of our Tattersalls October Book 2 draft last year when sold to Sam Sangster on behalf of Wild Horses Racing. The same draft also included the well-regarded Curragh maiden winner Hotazhell (Too Darn Hot x Azenzar).

Another BDS-bred 2yo winner, Milford (Kodiac x Penlight), also won on debut at Hamilton.

Hackney Diamonds becomes the second winner from as many runners out of Arwa following Damaar. The winning Arwa (also pictured at Stonereath Farm), a half-sister to champion stayer Order Of St George from the immediate family of top American mare Storm Song, has a yearling filly by Wootton Bassett and is in foal to Elite Power.
