Golden Horn colt among exciting new arrivals
18 February 2017
A colt from the first crop of the brilliant Golden Horn (pictured) is among the exciting new arrivals at Blue Diamond Stud.
Born on February 16, he is the first foal out of Bella Lulu, a winning Iffraaj half-sister to our popular sprinter Justineo. Bella Lulu, who showed useful form herself for Roger Varian, is now set to visit our Derby winner Authorized at Haras du Logis in Normandy.
Hopefully, he’ll be one of two Golden Horn foals for us this year as our stakes-placed mare Alfajer is also due to the champion.
Authorized himself is the sire of a filly out of Pearl Magic, a Speightstown half-sister to Group 3 winner Tough Magic, who was born on February 8. Pearl Magic, whose first foal Grizzly Bear is a winner, now heads to Darley’s leading first-crop sire Helmet.
Listed winner Soon, a daughter of Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Classic Park, foaled a filly by Lope De Vega on February 6. She is the fourth foal and filly out of Soon following Nadia Glory, a daughter of Oasis Dream with Hugo Palmer, and a pair of fillies by Dubawi. Soon visits Fastnet Rock in 2017.
Leading sire Dark Angel has two new arrivals on the ground at Blue Diamond in fillies out of the winning Bouyrin, a winning Invincible Spirit half-sister to the high-class two-year-old Alsindi, and the winning Manaaber, a Medicean daughter of Group 3 winner Needlecraft. Bouyrin will be covered by The Gurkha while Manaaber forms part of a strong draft from Blue Diamond slated to visit our Gimcrack Stakes winner Ajaya at Rathbarry Stud.
New Approach is the sire of a colt out of Nazli, an Invincible Spirit sister to last year’s good two-year-old Promising, while another accomplished son of Galileo, Intello, is responsible for a filly out of Amurra. Born on February 9, she is the first foal out of her dam, a three-parts Oasis Dream sister to Sayif. Both mares head to Ireland for their next cover: Nazli goes to Raven’s Pass and Amurra is another on the books to visit Ajaya.
Hopes will also be high for Woodland Scene’s latest foal, a colt by Mastercraftsman born on January 30. He is the third foal out of his dam, a half-sister to Group 1-winning two-year-old Crowded House who is another well-connected first-year mate for Ajaya.
