Decorated Knight fired in his fourth winner of the week on Friday as Knightswood registered a game front-running success at Chepstow for Mark and Charlie Johnston.

Previously the easy winner of a novice at Redcar, Knightswood defied a penalty to repel Berkshire Breeze and win with something in hand.

“He’s brave,” said Franny Norton. “He’s still a big baby. He wasn’t doing a stroke in front, he had his ears up all the way. To be fair, he spotted that horse in second on his shoulder and he held him off. Hopefully he’ll progress and go on to better things.”

Now the winner of two of three starts, Knightswood was bred by the Irish National Stud Mares Syndicate out of Neuquen, a Listed-placed daughter of Rock Of Gibraltar. He continues the purple patch enjoyed by Decorated Knight, for whom the past week has featured promising wins by Knight Of Honour, who won easily in good company at Goodwood for John and Thady Gosden on Sunday, Kind Gesture, who won at the second time of asking for Prince A A Faisal and Roger Varian at Wetherby on Tuesday, and Shahnaz, a winner for Gemma Tutty at Hamilton Park on Wednesday evening.

Decorated Knight‘s productive patch also includes the recent Danish 2,000 Guineas winner Charming Knight.
