Floret, half-sister to champion Moonlight Cloud, joins BDS

3 July 2019

We were extremely delighted to add FLORET to our broodmare band following her purchase for a sale-topping €380,000 through Tony Nerses at this week’s Arqana July Sale in Deauville.

The daughter of Galileo (pictured right) is beautifully bred as a half-sister to champion Moonlight Cloud.

During her illustrious career for Freddy Head, Moonlight Cloud won 12 races including three renewals of the Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest, the Group 1 Prix de la Foret, Group 1 Prix du Moulin and Group 1 Prix Fresnay le Buffard Jacques Le Marois.

Floret is also a sister to stakes winner Cedar Mountain and out of the stakes-placed Ventura.

She is also a direct descendant of Doff The Derby, thereby making her a relation to top-class runners such as Generous, Imagine and Sobetsu.

“She was the choice of Imad Al Sagar, he was very keen to get this filly so I’m delighted to have got her for him,” said Tony Nerses.

“She’s got the looks as well as the pedigree and we’re looking forward to adding her to the broodmare band at Blue Diamond Stud.

“We haven’t decided which stallion she’ll be visiting next year, but she’s got an amazing pedigree – you have to pay for that kind of page. She also a lovely individual.”
