Five foals in two countries!

9 February 2025

Five foals, two countries, 24 hours - it was an extremely busy few hours for our teams in both Newmarket and Kentucky this weekend.

In Newmarket, Zotilla and Countessa foaled within minutes of each other on Saturday.

Zotilla, our Classic-producing daughter of Zamindar, produced a strong colt by Dubawi. Zotilla hit Classic heights three years ago when her daughter Mangoustine won the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches. Her three-year-old Too Darn Hot filly, Sandirella, also made a bright start to her career late last year when third on her debut for John and Thady Gosden.

Zotilla is a half-sister to another Poule d'Essai des Pouliches heroine in Flotilla and a granddaughter of top sprinter Flanders. Her new colt is bred on the same Dubawi - Zamindar cross as New Bay and Zarak, so he's a really exciting arrival.

Zotilla now goes to Frankel.

Countessa (second right) welcomed her first foal, a filly by Siyouni. Countessa is a Camelot relation to champion milers Alpha Centauri and Miesque among many others and was sourced to join our broodmare band out of the 2023 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale in Australia.

Countessa now visits Kingman.

Over at Stonereath Farm in Kentucky, there were no fewer than three new arrivals on Sunday morning.

Queen Ofthe Temple (bottom right) got the ball rolling when foaling a filly from the last crop of Uncle Mo. She is the first foal out of her dam, a tough and high-class runner in the US who won the Listed Santa Barbara Stakes at Santa Anita and was Grade 3-placed on multiple occasions.

By Temple City and from a good Chilean family, Queen Ofthe Temple visits War Front for 2025.

Queen Ofthe Temple's filly was followed by the arrival of two foals by Claiborne Farm's Blame.

Jousi, our homebred daughter of Dubawi, produced a striking filly while Star Of Bristol foaled a colt.

Jousi, who carried our colours to victory in a maiden at Ascot, is dam of the talented Burhan, a winner for us at Deauville last summer. Jousi now visits Twirling Candy.

Star Of Bristol, a Speightstown half-sister to Mastercraftsman, goes to Elite Power.
