18 September 2021
Under an inspired Hollie Doyle, homebred Nazanin ran out the brilliant winner of the Group 3 Firth Of Clyde Stakes at Ayr.
She is our second winner of the race after Shaden, successful in 2015.
Nazanin has always been well regarded by trainer Archie Watson and duly justified those hopes when the impressive winner of her debut at Newbury. She ran a fine race when fourth next time out in the Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot before finding the ground a bit lively in the Group 2 Lowther Stakes at York.
On Saturday back down to the minimum distance, Nazanin broke well for Hollie and was always travelling well during the opening exchanges. She picked up when asked and in a fine show of tenacity, ran down the leader Canonized to win going away.
“Nazanin has been taking huge steps forward,” said Hollie Doyle. ”In the Lowther last time the ground was very quick and I felt as though she didn’t let herself down. Today I let her use herself and she’s got through that ground lovely.
“She’s been highly tried on her last two runs so it’s always a bit worrying, you don’t know whether you’re over-facing them but we’ve always know she’s got the ability.”
By Declaration Of War, Nazanin is out of Woodland Scene, a mare purchase by Tony Nerses who is also dam of multiple winner Martineo. The daughter of Act One boasts fine bloodlines as a half-sister to Group 1 winner Crowded House from the further family of Storm Cat. She has a yearling filly by Justify and a filly foal by Decorated Knight.
