Ajaya: stands at Rathbarry Stud

The first mares in foal to our Gimcrack Stakes winner Ajaya, who stands at Rathbarry Stud, have been scanned in foal.

They include Carpet Lady, a daughter of Night Shift who is a prolific producer of winners, including Listed scorer Cake, and New Deal, a daughter of Rainbow Quest who is the dam of multiple winners including Alrasm, who achieved a Racing Post Rating of 105.

Ajaya, who was bred by Blue Diamond Stud out of the Hennessy mare Nessina, won the Gimcrack Stakes at York and ran a close second in the Prix Robert Papin. The son of Invincible Spirit is standing his first season at Rathbarry Stud for €10,000.

Ajaya: will be supported with 16 mares from Blue Diamond Stud

Blue Diamond are supporting Ajaya with 16 mares this season, among them Sewards Folly, dam of Sayif and Hunter Street, the Group 2-placed Shyrl, dam of last season’s smart sprinter Raucous, the Listed-placed Imperialism and Paradise Sea, a half-sister to Group 1 winner David Junior.

“We’re keen to support Ajaya,” says Tony Nerses. “He was an excellent two-year-old, typical of the Invincible Spirit sire line and he looks sure to inject speed.

“We’ve all seen how well Invincible Spirit has done as a sire of sires. And Ajaya is from the female family of Redoute’s Choice, a champion sire, and Bated Breath. So we’re excited about his future prospects and thrilled that he’s with a stud with such a long history as Rathbarry Stud.

“Sewards Folly has been a grand servant for us. We had Sayif out of her – he was a Group 1 sprinter on his day and a grandson of Green Desert, so it made sense to send Sewards Folly to Ajaya.

“Shyrl was a very quick two-year-old who is the dam of another quick horse in Raucous. It also gives us the Invincible Spirit – Acclamation cross, which has already worked.”
