Exciting winning debut for Extra Elusive

Extra Elusive stretches clear under Kieran Shoemark

Greater targets beckon for Extra Elusive following his exciting winning debut for Roger Charlton at Newbury on Saturday.

Sent off at 7/1 in what is traditionally a competitive maiden, Extra Elusive made smooth headway from the rear of the field to take up the running a furlong out and win going away from First Eleven, a half-brother to Kingman with significantly greater experience.

Yet another exciting homebred for Blue Diamond Stud, his win came just minutes before another promising sort, Epic Fantasy, fell only a short head short of breaking his maiden at Doncaster.

Extra Elusive is out of Nessina, a mare who is rapidly emerging as a producer of note. Nessina’s first foal was Ajaya, our homebred winner of the Gimcrack Stakes who now stands at Rathbarry Stud. Extra Elusive is the third foal out of the daughter of Hennessy, who is a sister to Tantina, in turn the dam of this season’s leading second-crop sire Bated Breath as well as Group 1 winner Cityscape – both of whom were also trained by Roger Charlton.

It is also the further family of champion Australian sire Redoute’s Choice.

Nessina, who was purchased by Tony Nerses for 300,000gns to join Blue Diamond Stud in 2012, also has a yearling filly by Dansili and a colt foal by Fastnet Rock. She was covered again by Fastnet Rock this year.
