Exciting prospects for 2016 added at Tattersalls Book 1
11 October 2015
The purchase of a half-sister to Group 3 winner Magic Artist from the famous Mesopotamia family headed a successful three days of buying at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Sale.
The filly in question was a daughter of Raven’s Pass offered by Highclere Stud and bought for 425,000gns to Tony Nerses. Her dam, Artisti, is a Cape Cross half-sister to Group 1 winners Kirklees and Mastery and related to the likes of Mukhadram and Cable Bay.
She was purchased during the opening session alongside a Sepoy half-sister to Group 3 winner Whazzis and Chesham Stakes heroine Whazzat, who cost 250,000gns out of the New England Stud consignment. She is out of Whazzis, a Generous half-sister to Prix de Diane heroine Rafha, the dam of leading sires Invincible Spirit and Kodiac.
Kodiac himself was the sire of a sister to the high-class Terror who was bought for 140,000gns from Tally-Ho Stud. Let’s hope she’s another Shaden!
Tony was also among the underbidders on the sale-topping Dubawi – Loveisallyouneed filly but had better luck the following day when signing for three lots led by a Canford Cliffs half-brother to recent Group 3 Diamond Stakes winner Panama Hat. Sold by Jimmy Murphy’s Redpender Stud, who pinhooked Canford Cliffs himself, he was bought for 240,000gns.
We also added a Fastnet Rock half-brother to Listed winner Handassa from the family of Pastoral Pursuits for 155,000gns as well as a colt by our own stallion Sayif. Bred and sold by Alun Douch, he is a half-brother to 1,000 Guineas runner-up Lightening Thunder and cost 50,000gns.
