Exciting Invincible Spirit and Decorated Knight fillies headline new arrivals
15 April 2020
Ajaya gave Blue Diamond Stud one of its biggest thrills at York in 2015 when winning the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes and so it is with great happiness that we recently welcomed his sister, the latest foal out of Nessina.
By Invincible Spirit, the filly is the eighth foal out of Nessina, by Hennessy. Her first was Ajaya, whose Gimcrack Stakes win was also complemented by placings in the Group 2 Prix Robert Papin and Group 1 Middle Park Stakes; he later retired to stand at Rathbarry Stud and his first crop are two-year-olds of 2020. Nessina is also the dam of our highly talented Extra Elusive, a three-time winner for Roger Charlton who boasts placings in the Listed Magnolia and Gala Stakes. He remains in training for 2020.
Nessina’s three-year-old Faramman was recently placed for John Gosden while her two-year-old Fastnet Rock filly, Mariam, is in training with Roger Varian, having been knocked down to Tony Nerses for 400,000gns as a foal.
Nessina also has a yearling colt by Siyouni.
Her daughter Lady Rasha is another within the Blue Diamond Stud broodmare band; she has a filly foal by Decorated Knight and now visits Saxon Warrior.
Ajaya is also represented within our string of horses in training as sire of a filly out of Sensiz in training with Amy Murphy.
Nessina boasts regal connections as a daughter of Grade 2 winner Didina and half-sister to Listed scorer Tantina, herself dam of the Group 1 performers and successful sires Cityscape and Bated Breath. Tantina is also the granddam of last year’s unbeaten St Leger hero Logician.
Meanwhile, a striking daughter of stakes producer Epiphany became our sixth Decorated Knight foal of the season when born on April 8.
Epiphany is the dam of six winners in total including Listed scorer Vik The Billy. The daughter of Zafonic, who is from the famous Cliveden family of Indian Haven and Madame Dubois, now returns to our multiple Group 1 winner Decorated Knight. The son of Galileo stands at the Irish National Stud for €9,000.
