Musaaid returns after winning in impressive style at Newmarket

Musaaid returns after scoring at Newmarket

Musaaid proved he had learnt plenty from his debut at Newbury when making all to record an impressive success at Newmarket on Thursday.

The imposing son of Lawman, who is trained by Roger Varian, settled beautifully in front for Andrea Atzeni in the 7f contest and had plenty in reserve to fend off hot favourite Holland Park to score with ears pricked by a length-and-a-quarter. A step up in class now beckons.

Bred by Frank Dunne, Musaaid was purchased by Tony Nerses for 280,000gns from Clairemont Stud at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Sale. He is a three-parts brother to the winning Ribaat and out of Fonda, a daughter of Quiet American who topped the 2007 renewal of the Tattersalls Craven Sale.

Fonda is a half-sister to Group 2 winner and sire Layman and a granddaughter of Irish Oaks heroine Alydaress. It is the further family of Cape Cross, Diktat, Iffraaj and Russian Rhythm.
